Naera Ohia, photographer

I am a Tauranga Moana-based photographer working with iwi, community organisations, businesses and public-sector teams throughout Aotearoa. Whether photographing people, events or campaigns, my focus is creating authentic, thoughtful photography that reflects the people involved and gives organisations a versatile visual library they can use with confidence.

Alongside photography, I work part-time within the finance team at Whaioranga Trust, giving me practical insight into the operational realities of kaupapa Māori organisations. I also have a personal connection with Te Manu Toroa as an enrolled patient, giving me an existing familiarity with the organisation and the communities it serves.

The applied portrait rate is determined by the total number of people included across the project. The Volume Project Discount recognises the efficiencies gained when delivering a coordinated organisation-wide photography project. As more teams are photographed within the same project, planning, setup, travel and post-production workflows become more efficient, allowing a proportion of those efficiencies to be reflected in the investment above.

My Recommendation

My Recommendation

Based on the current brief, I recommend the following project scope to achieve a consistent, professional image library while making the most efficient use of photography time across both Te Manu Toroa locations. This provides flexibility for future communications while keeping the project streamlined and cost-effective.

Management & Leadership — Enhanced Profile

Provides a broader range of professional portrait options for leadership communications, media, governance and public-facing content.

Clinical, Community Services & Administration — Standard Profile

Creates a consistent visual identity across the wider organisation while keeping portrait sessions efficient and minimising disruption to daily operations.

Lifestyle Photography — Full Day

Captures authentic interactions, environments and kaupapa to complement staff portraits and create a versatile image library for the website relaunch and future communications.

Team & Department Photography

Includes whole-team photographs at each location, with optional department photographs available where additional group imagery is beneficial.

This combination provides a balanced, flexible image library across the organisation, while making efficient use of time on site during the scheduled portrait sessions. As a project of this scale, it also qualifies for the Volume Project Discount below.
